This course is considered an upper level course in visual arts. It is designed with the intermediate artist in mind and students will be expected to learn concepts and terms relating to fiber art. Additionally we will explore themes that will challenge you to think critically about your own identity, the community you live in both global and local, popular culture, visual consumerism, and how history affects the modern day and specifically you as a person.
Daily assignments count for 60% of your grades
Major assignments count for 40% of your grade Daily assignments include: Sketchbook work (notes/sketches/practice) Masterpiece reviews Daily participation Major assignments include: Artwork that takes a sustained amount of time (anywhere from 1-3 weeks) |
Most of our class time will be spent working on major assignments. We concentrate on one major project at a time, but there will be daily assignments throughout the week to break things up.
Your daily participation on those major assignments is also important. You will be required to submit progress images of the major assignments as you work on them to get participation credit. |
